A Legacy Woven Through Generations

There is a major evolution when you approach the relationship of fashion, interior and architectural design. My mother was the matriarch in knitting, stitching and Italian fashion design. I carried on to develop my brand as a history of concepts.

The showroom at CherryTextiles is a visual and elevated craft experience. I have always been directly involved in architectural production or fashion due to the different expansions of the business & the property sector.

CHERRY TEXTILES

Cherry Textiles carries forward the vision of Toronto fashion trailblazer Alan Cherry and needlepoint artist Rosalyn Cherry Soleil. Reimagined by his daughter, textile artist Wendy Mandelbaum, the studio fuses time-honoured weaving techniques with high-end Japanese fibres to create works of enduring beauty and tactile soul.

Our journey begins in early 20th-century Toronto, where the Cherry family laid the foundation for a legacy in fashion and textiles. From a modest dry cleaning and tailoring business established by Russian immigrants in 1906, the family evolved into esteemed retailers, with Alan Cherry emerging as a luminary in the Canadian fashion scene.

Alan Cherry's eponymous boutique on Yonge Street became a Toronto institution, renowned for its bridal wear and for introducing European designer labels like Hugo Boss and Versace to the city. His flair for the dramatic—once posing with a tiger for an advertisement—was matched by his impeccable taste and commitment to quality.

Crafting the Future with Timeless Techniques

At Cherry Textiles, we honour this rich heritage by embracing both tradition and innovation. Our handcrafted home textiles draw inspiration from time-honoured techniques, reimagined through a contemporary lens. We utilize high-end Japanese fibres to create pieces that are not only beautiful but enduring—designed to be cherished, not discarded.

Our creations are more than just textiles; they are narratives woven with care, reflecting a commitment to sustainability, authenticity, and the unexpected joy found in thoughtful design.

Every piece begins in the hands of our weavers—artisans who translate centuries-old craft into modern couture expression.
